After a devastating fire in St. Nicholas Church in 2013, the municipality and heritage consultants were faced with a difficult decision. What to do with this ruin at a time when church buildings are less and less useful and reconstruction may no longer be a problem? For the municipality, however, it was important that there was a place in the village where residents could gather and where the sense of community could be strengthened. The immovable heritage has requested the reconstruction of the oldest part of the protected monument, while the diocese has accepted a reduction of the sacred function.

Bressers architect to on the design and, in addition to the sacred part of the church, also developed a community hall, with a bar and retractable seating system. It was equipped with 112 Granada seats and received integrated frontcovering to close of the system when not in use.
