Orpheus
Orpheus is one of the five largest theatres in the Netherlands and offers a varied range of performances: from cabaret to classical music, from plays to theatre concerts. The theatre has 3 different theatres with a capacity of 242 to 1300 seats. From the impressive Hanos room with its phenomenal acoustics, the classic Rabobank room with its red plush, to the intimate Altios room.
The project was completed in 2015 and undertaken by Varix architects and commissioned by Orpheus. The primary feature in the Althiosroom is the curved retractable seating system with nose-mounted seats. This seating system was designed to provide flexibility in accommodating different events and audience sizes. The total capacity of the venue was 250 seats, with 208 seats integrated into the retractable seating system, eight fixed seats, 16 removable seats on wheels, and 18 removable seats with a quick-release system.
A Plaza Square seat in goldtone upholstery was chosen for its comfort and functionality and in perfect harmony with the wooden floorfinish to emphasise the intimate character of the space.
